People’s Revolutionary Party condemns the erasure of victims who fall within the crosshairs of the violent structures of settler colonialism and patriarchy.

We must embody awareness for Missing and Murdered Indigenous Women and Relatives (MMIWR) every moment alive on this land. Also referred to as Missing and Murdered Indigenous People, MMIP, this is a constant symptom of settler colonialism, wired into this system of settler occupation, which poisons water, treats land and people as resources and commodities. Exterminate the people. Take the land. Take the water. Take the resources. Replace the Indigenous populations with occupiers who do not have ancestral ties to the land. This is the European logic. Indigenous protectors don’t just fight for their relatives. In defending life and land, they fight for everyone’s liberation, including the settler, if the settler is willing to be freed. Follow Indigenous leadership and organizers. Awareness is a demand lived.

Under the auspices of anti-DEI initiatives, in 2025 the current administration removed the Not One More Report, a federal report initiated with the “Not Invisible” act of 2023 that had been designed to address the high number of missing women and Indigenous peoples across the so-called “US.” Tribal lands are not subject to federal jurisdiction, and they become the hunting grounds for predatory settlers. According to the National Indigenous Women’s Resource Center, Indigenous women are murdered at more than ten times the national average, 95 percent of these cases are not reported by the mainstream media.[1.] Indigenous women are particularly vulnerable to the violent patriarchal structure of the capitalist system that sees them as dispensable and potential targets for sexual violence. Indigenous women’s violent sexual assaults and murders are often not recorded; they are effectively “invisible” in the eyes of the settler colonial system. Indigenous Peoples are subject to ongoing genocide, the sovereignty of their nations ignored by the State as well as settler organizations, and erasure is an extension of our ongoing settler colonial project. Indigenous women, in particular, are victims of the intersections of the violent structures of patriarchy and colonialism.

The MMIR Toolkit provides resources for ensuring that Indigenous women and relatives are not simply disappeared through the violence of settler colonialism. Documenting and tracking disappearances can prevent erasure.

” Missing and Murdered Indigenous Women and Relatives,” National Indigenous Women’s Resource Center, 2026, https://www.niwrc.org/mmiwr-awareness

PRP STATEMENT ON Missing and Murdered Indigenous Women and Relatives (MMIWR) By the PRP Central Committee May 5th marked the National Day of Awareness for Missing and Murdered Indigenous Women and Relatives.
